His professional career spans about 40 years in the chemical industry covering a wide range of process, operations, energy, logistics, business and executive positions.
He joined Dow Chemical from 1970 to 1988 and worked in several parts of the world, including USA, in a great variety of businesses and functions including global head of logistics, operations manager for Mideast/Africa and general manager of Dow’s Specialty chemicals business in Europe.
He led the AkzoNobel foray into high performance fibers and materials from 1989 to 1998 on a global basis. High performance materials are making significant contributions to efficiency and performances in the societies of today.
As from 1999 he joined Teijin Ltd, Japan, and supported the globalization in addition to being CEO of one of Teijin’s global businesses. As from 2006 he is working at the Teijin Ltd, headquarters in Tokyo as deputy Chief Marketing Officer. He has been leading Teijin’s quest into Bio materials with successful developments and acquisitions.
Presently he is serving on the boards of:
- NatureWorks Inc, USA, the largest Bio Plastic producer in the world.
- BMCN NV Europe, the only Bio-Methanol manufacturer in the world.
- Teijin Aramid BV Europe, a global high performance fiber manufacturer.
- UPH Ltd, a privately held pharmaceutical holding company.
